SCHOOL OF MUSIC:
The School of Music's percussion studio has a nationwide reputation for excellence in performance. Our percussion ensemble has performed at conventions in Chicago, Knoxville, Tenn., Washington, D.C., and Norfolk, Va. In 1990, the ensemble presented a spotlight concert at the Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Philadelphia. Our facilities include seven individual practice rooms for percussionists, a large practice/storage room and two teaching studios.
There are many outstanding performance opportunities for percussion students. Students perform in orchestras, concert bands, wind ensemble, jazz ensembles, percussion ensemble, steel drum band, ragtime marimba band and numerous chamber ensembles. Of special interest to many percussion students is the corps-style Marching Royal Dukes and opportunities available as a marching ensemble.
Extreme care is taken to provide exposure to all percussion elements to help students prepare for careers in education, performance or business.

PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE:
THE JMU PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE encompasses a number of performing groups, representing many styles of music.  These include the concert ensemble, a marching percussion ensemble, marimba ensemble, percussion theater, and steel drum band, as well as many small chamber groups.  The ensemble consists of more than twenty students, some of who have been selected as performers in the All-American College Marching Show Bands and Orchestra at Disneyland and the Walt Disney World/Epcot Center, as well as at Busch Gardens and Kings Dominion.  Several of its members have also been involved with drum and bugle corps, performing with such groups as Crossmen, Bluecoats, and the Cadets of Bergen County.
The ensemble has performed throughout the East Coast, including concerts at the Virginia Music Educators Association Convention and Virginia Days of Percussion, and it was selected to perform a feature concert at the 1990 Percussive Arts Society International Convention in Philadelphia.  Most recently, the ensemble was chosen to perform the feature concert at the 2003 National Conference on Percussion Pedagogy at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro.  In 2004 the ensemble won the small ensemble contest at the PASIC held in Nashville, TN.
The marching ensemble/Marching Royal Dukes have performed at the Spartan Marching Percussion Festival in Chicago, Percussive Arts Society International Conventions in Knoxville, TN, Washington DC, and at the BOA Marching Percussion Festival.

HTML Email Research:

Homework due 9/04

Project 1 Research on HTML emails:

I chose this HTML email because I liked the way they created buttons for links and how they made the image appear to be floating

I chose this example of HTML emails because it had a variety of Image sizes to chose from.

I chose this HTML email because I liked how it had the repeating leaf going through the email.

I chose this email because I liked the way it blocked out areas through lines of color and still managed to keep the email looking clean
Examples of HTML emails that I Like ** linked to website but set up same as email…

Why: I like how it is organized with the various links at the top and the type is not too distracting, it is clean and simple.  I also like how there is a large image in the middle and there are options to share with friends.  I like that there isn’t too much text and it still successfully gets the message across…I really like the anthropologie HTML emails, I’ll list a few more examples.

above: different picture set up, still nice though
An example of an anthro html email with more text.  I like the way the pictures line up and it is still organized and not too busy
I like how the text is on top of the picture in this one, the cropping of the image is nice
Example of how to work with several pictures.  I like the layout of this one as well.
